GB Commences Claims Management for ATO on behalf of Comcare

In September 2018, Comcare announced the appointment of Gallagher Bassett (GB) as a new service provider for workers’ compensation claims.

GB was named as one of two third-party claims service providers for non-corporate Commonwealth entities covered under the Federal Government Comcare Scheme.

On 3 December 2018, the contract went live and GB commenced claims management for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on behalf of Comcare.

Ben Sheat, GB’s General Manager of Self Insurance is excited to have the contract up and running.

“We were honored to be named a service provider for the Comcare scheme, and it’s been a pleasure to commence working with Comcare and the ATO.

We’ve worked collaboratively with both Comcare and the ATO over the past three months to ensure the transition to GB has been a successful one, and we’re grateful for the confidence both organisations have placed in GB."

The transition was driven by an experienced team at GB, led by Nicole Williams, Transition Manager.

To support the delivery of claims management services, over the past three months GB have delivered a range of documentation, including:

  • Claims management operations manual
  • Claims management model
  • Training material
  • Suite of 40+ standard letters
  • Fraud control plan
  • Data Security and protection plan
  • Quality management plan
  • Business continuity plan
  • Implementation plans
  • Various templates (e.g. reporting, claim transition, business plans)

GB has a long history of close partnership with Government entities, having provided services to the Federal Government through the Comcover Scheme for more than a decade, and has also worked with the state Governments of NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
