Congratulations to the 2019 Worksafe Award Winners!

Congratulations to all the winners in this years’ WorkSafe Victoria Awards, which recognise Victorian businesses and individuals whose innovation, initiatives and commitment have made an outstanding contribution to workplace health, safety, wellbeing and return to work in their fields.

Gallagher Bassett (GB) had eight clients named as 2019 finalists; Opal Aged Care, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Whittlesea City Council, Coca Cola Amatil, Baw Baw Shire Council, Dyson Group of Companies, DP World and Scope.

GB is proud to have two clients named as award winners, which were announced at the Gala Dinner on Thursday 31 October 2019.

Scope, the disability service provider was named as an award winner in the Commitment to Workplace Health, Safety and Wellbeing category.

This year the organisation rolled out its ScopeSAFE health and safety system across four divisions, 226 locations and 2500 employees. It has ensured positive employee engagement, improved manual handling techniques, improved occupational violence and aggression support and increased early intervention on safety issues.

Baw Baw Shire Council was named the winner in the Leading Return to Work Practice by an Employer category. 

In 2018, the Council updated its early intervention and supported work programs to provide better immediate assistance to employees who suffered a work and non-work related injuries.

Stephanie Connolly, Claims Operations Manager, spoke highly of the award winners.

“We’re proud to have two GB clients recognised as part of the 2019 WorkSafe Awards,” Stephanie said.

“Being recognised at an industry level reflects the incredible work that they do to improve their workplace health and safety,” she added.

These winners have achieved significant health and safety improvements in their workplace, and have directly contributed to preventing injuries and helping their workers return to work.

For over 31 years, the annual WorkSafe Awards recognise Victorian businesses and individuals whose commitment, initiatives and innovation have made an outstanding contribution to workplace health, wellbeing, safety and return to work in their fields.
