Celebrating Excellence at the 2021 GB Awards – Meet Amani Gangemi

Every year, Gallagher Bassett (GB) hosts the GB Awards - a celebration of our people and a chance to stop and reflect on the amazing work they do each and every day.

This year there were nine award categories. They include:

• Internal Customer Service Provider of the Year
• External Customer Service Provider of the Year
• Emerging Leader of the Year
• Impact Leader of the Year
• Claims Manager of the Year
• Sales Person of the Year
• Process Challenger of the Year
• The National Gallagher Way Award
• Business Impact Award.

We spoke with Amani Gangemi, Senior Case Manager, who was recognised with the Claims Manager of the Year award!

Julia Tan, Branch Manager, nominated Amani, saying:

“Amani works on a group of high-risk mental injury claims, and puts an incredible amount of care and compassion into her role.

She truly sees that her role is to make a difference in the lives of injured workers during what is a very difficult time, and she wears that badge with pride.

Amani is a worker-centric claims manager who has the best interests of her injured workers at heart. Amani truly loves the work she delivers each day.”

When asked about what she enjoyed most about her role, Amani remarked:

“What I love the most about my job is that day to day I get to make a difference in someone’s life.

Most of my dealings are with employees who have suffered severe PTSD as a result of being exposed to traumatic events through their line of work.

This can be very challenging and at times but is what drives me to continually find ways to connect with and support them.

I love and believe in building strong, genuine, and transparent relationships with my injured workers during what is a very difficult and challenging time for them.

I enjoy working collaboratively in identifying strategies and treatments to aide in their recovery, to help them regain their quality of life and support them towards a safe return to work.

I’m so thankful to my workers for opening up and allowing me to help and make a difference; that really does take strength and courage.”

There was a total of 51 nominations over the nine categories.

John McNamara, GB Australia Chief Executive Officer, said:

“I’d like to once again thank all of the people who took the time to nominate their colleagues for an award this year. I really love seeing our GB family members supporting each other and celebrating each other’s success and achievements.

Congratulations again to all of our nominees, finalists and winners. It’s inspiring to read all the examples of the ways that our people from all parts of the business are living The Gallagher Way, and demonstrating that our people are our strength.”
