Every year, Gallagher Bassett (GB) hosts the GB Awards - a celebration of our people and a chance to stop and reflect on the amazing work they do every day.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to change the way we conduct these awards. Each day this week, we’ll be recognising the amazing work that our GB Award winners have done.

There were six award categories which applied to individuals across the business. They include:

  • Internal Customer Service Provider of the Year
  • External Customer Service Provider of the Year
  • Emerging Leader of the Year
  • Impact Leader of the Year
  • Claims Manager of the Year
  • Sales Person of the Year

We spoke with Laura Bradley who was recognised with the Sales Person of the Year award! Laura joined GB in January 2013 and worked her way up to a Senior Business Development Manager role.

Laura has spent the last few years broadening her product and market knowledge outside of her area of expertise. As a Senior Business Development Manager, Laura works across all GB product lines to develop customised solutions that suit the needs of our national clients.

In an Insurance Business interview earlier this year, Laura attributes her background in wine and hospitality for enhancing her ability to maintain a customer-centric viewpoint.

“Regardless of the industry you are in, I strongly believe that customer and change need to be at the forefront of your focus.”

Laura is excited to see where the insurance industry and the wider finance sector is headed in the coming years.

While insurance has traditionally been perceived as a very male-dominated sphere of business, Laura believed that this has changed in recent years which is changing the way people typically view the industry.

“There has been a change in recent years, and some incredible female leaders have forged paths for themselves.”

“The industry has seen the benefits that having a woman at the table brings, both culturally and commercially. Different ways of thinking are the best assets an executive team can have, and diversity is the key to that difference.”

When asked about what she enjoyed most about working at GB, Laura remarked:

“The culture and family feel. New ideas are always welcome, even when they challenge conventional ways of thinking, and I like that we are an organisation that is always looking  forward. We have a genuine desire to support our clients and we enjoy what we do.”

There was a total of 44 nominations over the six categories.

John McNamara, GB Australia Chief Executive Officer, said:

“Congratulations again to all of our finalists, and thank you to those people who took the time to nominate their colleagues. It’s great to be able to recognise our people in this way, and to see the quality of the nominations and the effort put in by those of you who submitted nominations.”

“I’d also like to thank all of you in the GB family for the work that you do every day and the way that you’ve risen to the challenges presented over the past few months. We really are seeing The Gallagher Way in action every day, and evidence that our people are our strength.”
