icare selects Gallagher Bassett as new General Lines Claims Manager

Gallagher Bassett (GB) is excited to today announce its appointment as the new claims management service provider for general lines across the icare Self Insurance portfolios.

icare Self Insurance provides Government Agencies and related businesses with comprehensive protection across a wide range of insurances.

GB will have responsibility for managing all general lines portfolios, including liability, motor and property.

GB will commence managing all new claims from March 2018, with all existing claims transitioned by mid-2018.

A clear transition plan is in place to ensure changes to the claims process are seamless and transparent for all users.

The handover will be completed by mid-2018 when Government Agencies will experience:

  • A simpler process to manage claims through a centralised, digital system with consistent processes, automation and management of information.
  • Greater internal capability to support complex claims so that matters are resolved efficiently and more effectively to minimise delays for those affected
  • Increased visibility of insurance coverage with bespoke solutions for each Agency

Commenting on this new partnership, Tim Plant, Group Executive Self Insurance, said: “We are proud to welcome Gallagher Bassett as our new provider, who showed strong expertise across a broad range of insurance services, a dynamic digital offering to simplify the claims process, and a desire to collaborate with us to help deliver the best outcomes for our valued Government Agency partners.”
“GB’s appointment forms part of icare’s three-year transformation strategy to build a world-class insurance offering with a customer-centred approach to delivering value to the Agencies, workers and assets of NSW.”

John McNamara, GB’s Managing Director - Australia, said he is delighted about the partnership, and the opportunity to work closely with icare and the NSW Government Agencies.

“Gallagher Bassett and icare share a number of common values including a strong dedication to customer service, a desire to use innovative technology to provide solutions to customers and forming partnerships to deliver effective change.

“As a business, GB is recognised for providing quality claims decisions and outcomes, combined with an exceptional customer experience,” he added. “We are delighted to begin working with icare and become an important part of their journey to become a world-class insurance and care provider for NSW Government Agencies.”

The appointment was made following a robust and open tender process.

This news follows a number of recent high profile appointments for GB, including being selected by icare to manage claims for the NSW Home Building Compensation Fund, and being named by the Northern Territory Government as the claims provider for the Northern Territory public service workers’ compensation scheme.

GB was recently named Service Provider to the Insurance Industry of the Year at the 2017 ANZIIF Insurance Industry Awards.
