GB wins Best Intern Program in Australia for 2018

We’re pleased to announce that the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) have awarded Gallagher Bassett (GB) the Best Intern Program in Australia for 2018.

The 2018 AAGE Graduate Recruitment Industry Awards (AGRIAs) were held as part of the AAGE Conference on Thursday 1st November 2018.

The purpose of the Best Intern Program award is to recognise employers that provide their interns with the best overall experience during their internship program.

The finalists for the award were determined from responses to the AAGE’s annual Intern Survey.

The survey summarises the views and experiences of around 800 interns who have taken part in an internship program with an employer.

Interns were given a series of questions to rate the quality of their experiences during their internship program, on a variety of topics such as induction and training, to access to senior management, feedback on performance and the organisations’ culture and values.

2018 marked the third year of our internship program, and in January we welcomed 12 interns to the GB family, to complete their six week program.

Two of the interns were recruited as permanent GB staff at the conclusion of the program, with the remaining interns returning to university to complete their studies.

John McNamara, CEO for GB Australia is delighted with the news of the award.

"We’re extremely proud to have been awarded Best Internship Program for 2018.

Our Learning and Development team, and in particular our Internship Coordinator Cathy James, have put together a fantastic program.

Each year it is reviewed and refined to ensure that it continues to provide valuable learning opportunities for our interns.

At GB, we believe our people are our strength, and it is so pleasing to see the enthusiasm these interns bring to the program - we certainly appreciate their input and contributions during their time with us.

It’s also lovely when we are able to welcome interns as permanent members of the team - whether it be at the conclusion of their internship, or later down the track when they have completed their studies."

On accepting the award, Cathy James - internship Coordinator said,

“I’m really proud of what we are achieving with our internship program at GB, and honoured to be recognised by the AAGE.”
